Words form the Director of IRAF

«The year began with an optimistic outlook for the company. During the twenty years of IRAF’s creation (1998-2018), Management had set itself the external objective of positioning the company on the power sector market in the West African sub-region and making it a reference office. In reviewing the past period, we can say with satisfaction that this challenge has been met successfully, thanks to :

  • the renewed confidence of our customers in the realization of Studies and Supervision of electrical network works ;
  • strong partnerships developed with regional (CETEXCI, AIEC…) and international (TRACTEBEL Engineering, AECOM, ARTELIA…) engineering offices;
  • the competence and commitment of our teams.

Today, our portfolio of activities includes flagship development projects in the sub-region. Thus, IRAF is involved in the implementation of all the major electrical interconnections of the WAPP : the 225 kV interconnection project of the power grids of Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea (CLSG); the 225 kV interconnection project of the power grid of the OMVG countries linking Senegal, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau and Guinea; the North Dorsal project for the Nigeria-Niger-Burkina Faso-Benin interconnection at 330 kV. In this new year, the major challenge for IRAF is much more internal than external because, as part of its sustainability strategy, the Management aims to restructure the company with a view to strengthening its managerial base and reorganizing its resources to better manage its flow of activities. This S.M.A.R.T objective is all the more important as it is necessary for the implementation of the company’s medium-term development strategy. Indeed, considering the needs of the electricity sector and the number of projects being prepared in the sub-region, the company’s management plans :

  • strengthen its skills and retain its key staff ;
  • consolidate its partnerships with regional and international design offices ;
  • develop new areas of expertise, particularly in the field of solar energy and smart grids (SMART Grid).

Furthermore, in the energy sector and in our fields of competence, we want to make our contribution to the edifice of African development for the well-being of its populations. Having faith in the region’s potential, we are working every day to fulfil our share of commitment for the materialization of development projects by putting our expertise at the service of national electricity companies and the electricity sector in general.»
